The corporate social responsibility of Board of Directors: a choice or a necessity?

One of the UN Global Compact objectives is to “Make sustainability a Board of Directors priority”. How does this translate into reality in Switzerland? Empirical evidence suggests that CSR is intrinsically related to sound risk management, which is a core Board of Directors supervisory duty. Professor Rajna Gibson Brandon, co-author of “The sustainability footprint of institutional investors”, will help us understand the relevance of CSR for Boards. She will present the legal, economical and ethical perspectives and will explore the correlation and causality between CSR and performance.
